Nurses, stand up and say NO to TeenScreen.

TeenScreen is being performed without adequate INFORMED CONSENT to parents and foster parents before mental health treatment is initiated. They are given no alternatives to traditional mental health care nor are they informed of treatment options. They are not screened for physical illnesses at all. There is NO information given to parents about the side effects and adverse reactions of medications, including death. It is against our own CODE OF ETHICS as nurses and the medical profession to allow this to happen. WE should be the advocates for these patients and insist on LAWS requiring INFORMED CONSENT in all states. Go to this website http://www.teenscreentruth.com/ now for the straight info on TeenScreen, then sign the petition below. Join me in going to our states capitals and lawmakers and insist on FULL INFORMED CONSENT for any screening and treatment for mental health. Nurses should take their role as patient protectors and advocates to the next level, changing society for the better.

We already have enough drugs in use in society without going to our schools and drugging our kids. Kids need more strict discipline, and I don’t mean punishment, to handle their behavior problems. Nurses should be concerned about this. It’s going to effect our working conditions in the near future. We’ll just be making more patients trying to handle the side effects.

As nurses we are responsible for protecting our client legal and human rights. We are suppose to provide safe environments and educate and advocate for our client, however can we really advocate, will our facilities really keep us on as nurses if we advocate for our client the way we would advocate for our families. The horrible truth is we cannot really advocate for our client the way would like to, and drugs makers are buying our politician in making laws about medication and diagnosis and predicting our lives. For examples, blood pressure numbers were changes making most of our nation hypertensive and now doctors can prescribe medication for anyone considers hypertensive. Everyday new guidelines are made and enforced, the drug makers make the money funds our politician and our families are being endangered because they are being prescribed medication they don’t need. I heard on the news now that they are trying to implement a law requiring teens ages 9-18 or 19 be vaccinated for cervical cancer. Is this required? Or is this another money making system? Who knows?
